The Class of 2021's top ten seniors were honored by the Freeport Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham during the April 20th board of education meeting. The ten students have earned the distinction of being the highest academic achievers in their graduating class.
Board of education members and district administrators recognized each student as they read their name and their numerous accomplishments from throughout their high school careers.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham expressed his appreciation to the students for being leaders and examples of academic excellence to their fellow students.
"We are grateful to be here, in person, to celebrate the top 10. You are so extraordinary, so humble with your accomplishments and we are so proud of what you have done through all your years at Freeport High School," said Dr. Kuncham. "It has not been easy for you, as you have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through your junior and senior years, but you have been amazing. You are superheroes, you are changemakers and you are the leaders of Freeport High School and beyond."
The district congratulates the Freeport High School Class of 2021 top 10: Valedictorian Shyanne Gardner, Salutatorian Mia Sorrentino, No. 3 Nicole Bailey, No. 4 Oghenenyerovwo Omokeni, No. 5 Jayda Pollard, No. 6 Sabrina Johnson, No. 7 Hameedah Lawal, No. 8 Tatiana Lugo Aquino, No. 9 Genevieve Himmelberg, and No. 10 Alexa Rivera.
