The high school boys and girls track teams have a lot to celebrate after dominating the New York State Indoor Track and Field Championships, held in Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
For the girls 4-by-2 relay team, which consists of Efe Omokeni, Enyero Omokeni, Nyah Porter and Alexandria Yarbrough set a school record and placed first in the championship. Meanwhile, the boys 4-by-2 relay team, which consists of Trevon Campbell, Justin Lescouflair, Jahmel Maynor-Mendez and Kevon O'Brien Smith also set school records and placed third.
Individual achievements included Kevon taking first place competing in the 600-meter; Jahmel taking third place in the 300-meter; and Efe placed sixth in the long jump. In addition, Kevon was the State and Federation Champion.
The district congratulates each student on their hard work, perseverance and accomplishments throughout the season.
