As part of its ongoing character education and its commitment to teaching students about the importance of compassion, Atkinson hosted "The Power of One," an interactive antibullying program for fifth-grade students presented by Soren Bennick Productions.
The performance featured two actors, one wearing a green mask and the other wearing a purple mask to identify the bully and the person being bullied, in several different real-life scenarios. Students learned what bullying looks like, the actions they can take to prevent it and how to help those who may be experiencing it.
