The Nassau County Council of School Superintendents honored the 2013 valedictorians and salutatorians from every high school in the county, including Freeport High School valedictorian Elizabeth Mulé and salutatorian Bianca Molina, when it hosted its annual Celebrating Excellence Breakfast in the grand ballroom of the Crest Hollow Country Club. "As you go out to conquer the world, and you will, remember to first conquer yourself," was the sage advice from Celebrating Excellence Committee Chairman and Freeport Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham in his address to the students.
Fifty-four tables comprised of Nassau County's top students, proud parents and administrators paid tribute to this group of extraordinary graduating seniors as they were called to the stage to receive their certificates of honor. The destination college or university for each honoree was also announced. This impressive list included Ivy League schools, the best colleges on Long Island, and other elite schools across the country.
"How will you use your gifts? Will inertia be your guide or will you follow your passion?" prodded keynote speaker Theresa Regnante, president and CEO of the United Way of Long Island. "My hope is that you all come back to Long Island to share with us your stories and talents."
"These fine young men and women are to be saluted for their hard work and their commitment to excellence," said NCCSS President-elect and North Merrick Superintendent of Schools David S. Feller in his praise of the hard work and dedication of these outstanding students. "We're all confident that you will achieve great things in life."
After the breakfast concluded, the students headed back to continue the final days of their high school careers, while counting the days to their graduations and next academic endeavors.
