Students Celebrate Thanksgiving with Holiday Activities
Posted on 12/12/2013

Students began their Thanksgiving celebrations with in-school activities that complemented their core subject lessons.

Elementary school students across the district worked on crafts reflecting the traditional Thanksgiving icons, including colorful turkeys, feathered headdresses and Pilgrim-styled garb. These projects were tied to lessons in history, languages and the arts. Many schools encouraged donations of nonperishable canned foods for distribution to local charities for those in need.

On the Wednesday before the holiday, some students feasted on a sampling of Thanksgiving dinner staples, including turkey, corn, squash, sweet potatoes and home-baked breads.
