The Freeport High School Winter Festival of the Arts brought holiday joy to the auditorium stage and showcased the variety of talented musical performers and performing groups being developed by the district.
The program featured a medley of traditional holiday tunes mixed with equally stirring, lesser-known songs presented by the concert chorus, ninth-grade select chorus, concert band, mixed chorus, wind ensemble and select chorale. The sinfonietta performed with both the concert orchestra and the wind ensemble in a display of the depth and versatility of Freeport's music program.
During a break in the program, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham thanked the community for their ongoing support and praised the students for their perseverance and dedication to the arts.
The show concluded with a sprightly rendition of Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride," followed by thunderous applause for this song and the entire program.
