Freeport High School Presents ‘Bye Bye Birdie’
Posted on 03/14/2012

The Freeport High School Theatre Department is bringing the town of Sweet Apple, Ohio to the auditorium stage for their production of the all-American teenage musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie later this month.

The show begins with the naive Kim MacAfee chosen at random to bid farewell to newly-drafted pop megastar Conrad Birdie on live television. Her life and the lives of everyone around her become entangled in the media circus that descends on Sweet Apple. Add in a backstory courtship between a struggling songwriter and a public relations maven, and you've got the makings of a wonderful show with retro-comedy, bittersweet romance, and a score of familiar songs that will make you smile, including "Put on a Happy Face" and "Kids."

Performances are Friday, March 30 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 31 at 3:00 pm in the Freeport High School auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the box office. They are $5 for senior citizens and students with a valid FHS I.D. or $8 for adults.
