Posted Date: 06/16/26 (02:03 PM)

Career Day events at New Visions and Caroline G. Atkinson School provided  students the opportunity to explore various careers while learning directly from community professionals!

At New Visions, students participated in engaging presentations and demonstrations designed to connect classroom learning with future career opportunities. Guests shared insights into their professional journeys, daily responsibilities, and the dedication required to succeed in their fields. Featured presenters included members of the Nassau County Police Department Mounted Horses and K-9 Unit, law enforcement officers, a dentist, nurse, vice president of sales, hairdresser, nutritionist, restaurant owner, professional sports representative, yoga instructor, and stretch therapist.

“Career Day helps students connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities and encourages them to dream big, ask questions, and begin thinking about the many paths available to them in the future,” said event organizer and lead reading specialist Lisa Drury Cruz.

At Caroline G. Atkinson School, sixth-grade students gathered in the gymnasium to meet professionals representing fields including law enforcement, graphic design, STEM and engineering, fitness and wellness, museum curation, professional athletics, and music.

“Our Sixth Grade Career Day is designed to expose students to a variety of career paths and inspire them to begin thinking about their future goals,” said organizer and school counselor Angelina Iaccino. “Through this event, students have the opportunity to meet professionals from many diverse fields and learn about the skills and education needed for success.”

Both events highlighted the district’s commitment to providing meaningful experiences that inspire students to explore their interests and envision successful futures.
