Freeport High School's Science and Engineering Fair highlights student innovations
Freeport High School was a center for scientific exploration as high school students showcased their innovative research projects during the school's 19th Annual Science and Engineering Fair.

Under the guidance of science research teacher, Brian Snyder, students presented their findings across a variety of disciplines including chemistry, engineering, environmental science, health, medicine, and zoology.

"A strong foundation in STEM education is fundamental in preparing our students for the challenges of tomorrow's world,” said Superintendent of Schools Kishore Kuncham. “The annual science fair highlights our students’ abilities to research innovative topics, problem-solve during their experiments and apply critical thinking skills throughout the process. It's a testament to the many learning opportunities our district provides to students.”

From engineering water filtration systems using potato starch and carbon, to investigating the effectiveness of various soaps against E. coli bacteria, to conducting an analysis of cocaine presence in various USD denominations, students engaged in a diverse range of scientific inquiries with enthusiasm and meticulous rigor.

"The annual science fair presents invaluable opportunities for our students to demonstrate their research skills and the exceptional work of Freeport High School’s Science Department,” Dr Vincent Pereira said.

Judging each presentation were Freeport High School teachers, science and engineering professionals, as well as college professors and district administrators. The projects were not only assessed for scientific merit, but also for their clarity and depth of understanding.

The Freeport High School Department of Science organizes the Science and Engineering Fair with the aim of offering students an opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired and to showcase their discoveries to the school community.
