Dodd Moving Up Ceremony
On June 25, J.W. Dodd Middle School students gathered at the Atkinson Intermediate School to celebrate their eighth grade moving up ceremony, marking the end of their middle school journey and the beginning of their high school adventure.

The ceremony opened with Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kishore Kuncham Kuncham sharing words of wisdom and encouragement, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and hard work.

As you step into the next phase of your academic journey, remember that the foundation you have built here at Dodd Middle School will support you in achieving your future goals. Continue to strive for excellence and never stop learning, said Dr. Kuncham.

The ceremony also featured inspiring remarks from Board of Education President Maria Jordan-Awalom who commended the students on their hard work and dedication, and how proud she was to see them heading to Freeport High School.

Assistant Principal Christopher Porciello then reflected on the students' growth and achievements. “I am incredibly proud of each one of you and I am excited to see what your future holds at Freeport High School and beyond. You have worked diligently to get to this point and your commitment to excellence will always bring you success.”

Student speakers then took the stage for the annual tradition of reflecting on their memories of middle school. They thanked their teachers and friends for all the memories they made during the last two years.

Dodd Middle School Principal Johane Ligondé was last to address the students on this milestone. “Today is the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and perseverance,” she said. “Graduates remember that your experience is your own. As you look forward to high school, decide to make the next four years the best years of your entire life. Work hard and take responsibility for your thoughts, your words and your actions. The effort is worth it because four years from now we will be celebrating you and your accomplishments after the best four years of your life.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the students, symbolizing their readiness to take on the challenges of high school.

Congratulations to the Dodd Middle School Class of 2024!
