Giblyn School Welcomes ALS Ride for Life

After a two-year hiatus, the ALS Ride for Life once again made a stop at the Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School to raise awareness and help find a cure for ALS. This is the seventh year the organization has stopped at the elementary school on their Ride for Life tour.

The event is highly anticipated by the school and this year the students and staff welcomed the organization with beautiful signs showing their support, wore the color blue or a Yankees shirt to honor Lou Gehrig and cheered "Strike out ALS" as members of the ALS Ride for Life rode up the street followed closely behind by the Giblyn step team.

Members of the ALS Ride for Life organization spoke to the students about the disease and how the organization works to raise awareness and funds to find a cure. Ms. Amy Lederer, Giblyn Principal announced that the Giblyn ALS coin drive raised $2,000 for the organization.

Music teacher, Ms. Shannon Abramovitz then led the entire school in a moving performance of the song "Lend a Helping Hand" for the ALS members.

Closing out the Giblyn stop on the ALS Ride for Life tour, the students and ALS members learned a new ALS Cheer until next year's ALS Ride for Life.
