Atkinson’s Kindness Club Spreads Peace

A new student group in the Caroline G. Atkinson Intermediate School called the Kindness Club is spreading peace and kindness throughout the building for students and staff.

The after-school program advised by teacher, Enza Cellan, strives to teach club members how to be kind, support inclusion and boost confidence among all students within the school building.

Their first school-wide initiative, which took place in early February, asked students in all grades to write messages of how they can spread kindness and peace throughout their school. This activity was inspired by historical Black figures, including Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela, who fought for peace among all people.

In the spring, the Kindness Club will be dedicating a tree to the school's Peace Garden as a symbol of the club's commitment to being kind to others.
