Career Day intrigues Bayview Avenue students
Posted on 05/12/2022

Students at Bayview Avenue Elementary School were given an inside look into a wide variety of occupations as professionals stepped into their classrooms during the annual Bayview Career Day.

Students in grades K-4 were visited by individuals representing careers in banking, engineering, healthcare, law, military service, personal training and fitness, and more. Each spoke to students about their careers and the training and education necessary to become successful.

While some visitors spoke to students about their careers and experiences, others were able to show the students. Fitness instructor Mike Watson had students participating in jumping exercises, fisherman Louis Aponte let students have hands-on time with a fishing pole reel and K-9 Police Officer Andre Coburn demonstrated how his dog, Bernie, helps in search and rescue, suspect tracking and more. The students ended their career day with a broader perspective of the potential career opportunities available to them in the future.
