Ms. Laurie Trujillo's second grade dual-language remote learning class at New Visions completed a lesson on Martin Luther King, Jr. in observance of the leader's birthday. The lesson taught the students about Dr. King's life and work. Each student then created a presentation utilizing Google Slides sharing their own dreams for a better world.

In addition, as an act of service honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.'s contributions and efforts to the world, students in the class and students in Ms. Denise Rodriguez's in-school dual-language class together collected toys and other gifts for a needy family in the Freeport community.

"The students were able to connect the lessons of community service in a meaningful way that brought joy to all involved," said Ms. Trujillo. The teachers delivered the gifts to the family before the MLK, Jr. Day on Jan. 18.
