The students of Bayview Avenue, Leo F. Giblyn and New Visions Elementary Schools in Freeport Public Schools recently created handmade Valentine's Day cards for veterans across Nassau County.
Classroom teachers, art teachers and school group advisors guided students to design cards with colorful illustrations and heartfelt messages of appreciation for the veterans' service to their country.
Hundreds of valentines from the Freeport elementary students will be delivered to local veterans as part of Freeport Assemblywoman Judy Griffin's and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran's annual effort to deliver messages of hope in celebration of Feb. 14.
