New Visions School students participated in a great learning experience about the election process during their Student Council elections.
Each candidate was selected by their fourth grade peers on the classroom level and then the candidates began the campaign process by writing essays, interviewing and making posters. Leading up to the election, candidates addressed their peers by speaking during the morning announcements, stating their strengths and leadership qualities along with initiatives they would like to promote.
The main focus of the New Visions Student Council is to promote community outreach by helping others in need including making Thanksgiving baskets and other service projects. They also encourage school spirit by leading spirit week and creating legacy projects.
On election day, a virtual assembly was held so that the candidates could present one final address to the school community. After voting, the New Visions 2021-2022 Student Council leaders are: President Jonathan Zavala Martinez, Vice President Cassandra Turcios, Secretary Chloe Pereira, Press Secretary Lionel Garcia and Treasurer Steven Ramirez Herrera.
