Message from the Superintendent of Schools

March 27th COVID-19 Update: re School Closing

You may be aware that the Governor has extended New York State school closings until April 15th. The Governor will reassess at that time and may close our schools even longer. While we seek further clarification and guidance, based on the information available at this time, Freeport Schools will be closed until April17th. Our Spring Break will take place as scheduled from April 9th through Friday April 17th. Unless the Governor extends the school closings, we plan to return on April 20th. Freeport Schools remain open Online through April 8th and return on April 20th after the spring recess. If there is any further information from the State Education Department, we will notify you accordingly.

Our Online E-Learning will continue. Please make sure your child is completing their daily assignment including staying connected with their teachers. With schools closed longer, it is very important your child completes assignments. Check our website for E-Learning and Online Resource Center updates. If you have questions, please contact your building administration.

Our Grab and Go Meal Plan for all students continues to run Monday through Friday from 9:30 am - 12:00pm. You can choose to pick up at either of our two locations: Freeport High School and New Visions School.

We will provide you with updates as they become available. Visit our website at www.freeportschools.org, download the Freeport Public Schools app and sign up for push notifications.

Please remember to wash your hands, follow social distancing, and be safe and healthy. Thank you.

Regards,

Dr. Kishore Kuncham
