District Welcomes Assistant Superintendent of Business

The district is pleased to announce that Salvatore Carambia was appointed assistant superintendent for business during the May virtual Board of Education meeting. His official start date is July 27, 2020.

Mr. Carambia served as the chief school business official for more than two decades in various school districts. He comes to Freeport after serving in several positions within the North Babylon School District. While there, he was assistant superintendent for business in 2008 and then served as deputy superintendent of schools in 2015. During that same year, Mr. Carambia served as interim superintendent of schools for a six-month period, while the school district conducted a search for a new superintendent of schools.

Prior to his time at North Babylon, Mr. Carambia served as the assistant superintendent of finance for the Island Trees School District and Hicksville School District. He also worked as the administrator for finance for the Kings Park Central School District and as the assistant to personnel at Cold Spring Harbor Central School District. Before taking his career path into the field of education, he worked for Citi Bank for more than 18 years. Before leaving Citi Bank, he was the vice president of Capital Markets.

Mr. Carambia earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration from Adelphi University and his Master of Science in education from C.W. Post. He holds NYS Certifications as a school district administrator and as a school business administrator.

He will be working in the district prior to his official start date to ensure a smooth transition as Freeport Public Schools continues its preparation for another successful school year in 2020-2021.
