Freeport Public Schools is proud to announce that it has been awarded a competitive New York State Pathways in Technology Early College High School Program grant totaling $2,684,525. The district plans to use the 2019-2020 school year as a planning year with the program scheduled to begin in the 2020-2021 school year. The program will enhance the district's Pathways to Success program currently offered at Freeport High School through an integrated six-year program that combines high school, college and career training opportunities to students while still attending high school.

The district will partner with Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and other industry partners including the Cradle of Aviation, Action Machined Products, Inc., the Academy of Aviation, East/West Industries, Inc. and Long Island Tech. At Vaughn College, Freeport students will have an opportunity to earn transcript college credit toward an associate degree in one of two selected pathways - Aeronautical Engineering Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology Avionics.

"We are very pleased and excited to have been selected to receive this NYS P-Tech grant," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham. "We are constantly working to expand our existing partnerships with colleges and universities. Our students will greatly benefit from the amazing opportunities this grant will provide."
