Atkinson School math teacher Matthew Yatsyla had the wonderful opportunity to lead a workshop at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on Sci-ED Day that focused on the Transit of Mercury Across the Sun. The professional development activity was open and presented to all educators across Long Island.
Mr. Yatsyla's workshop showed teachers how the transit of Mercury can be used to calculate the distance of the earth from the sun. Accompanying Mr. Yatsyla for his presentation was Freeport High School senior Adisa Johnson.
The district was proud to have the opportunity to be represented during this prestigious gathering.
