Bayview school's PeaceJam Junior members were hard at work throughout the month of December collecting canned food items for the school's Caring Compassionate Citizen Canned Food Drive.
A total of 800 food items were collected and donated to Island Harvest and the Nassau County Food Pantry to help local families in need.
Every five students that brought in canned foods wrote their name on a heart, which was then displayed on the bulletin board in the main hallway. Along with the food drive, students also learned about historical figures that demonstrated actions of a caring compassionate citizen.
