Students, teachers and staff members of the Caroline G. Atkinson Intermediate School were enthusiastic in their volunteer efforts this past spring, as they joined together in planting fruits and vegetables on school grounds. An initiative led by the Garden Committee, classes also grew a sunflower and planted it in the smaller court yard to create a happy sunflower garden.
During the summer months, school community members helped maintain certain aspects of the gardens, by watering, weeding, picking and donating the freshly grown produce. A huge thank you to all who participated. A special thank you to Reina, Ernie, Frank and the Grounds Crew for supporting the beauty and benefits of this ongoing project.
