As a result of its ongoing commitment and support of the district and the Freeport community, nonprofit organization Toys for Freeport Tots donated more than $3,000 in musical instruments to Atkinson.
Toys for Freeport Tots, comprised of volunteering members of the Freeport Benevolent Association and their families, visited Atkinson to personally deliver violins, violas, trumpets and a cello. During the visit, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham expressed his appreciation to the organization and its president Patrick Franzone for going above and beyond in their endeavors to support the students of Freeport. As a token of appreciation on behalf of the district, Dr. Kuncham presented Franzone with a framed rendering of this year's "We Are Peace" themed artwork.
