Under the direction of tenor saxophone player and high
school student Heaven Jenkins, the Saxophone Quartet showcased their
talents at the Freeport Recreation Center's annual tree lighting - the
second consecutive year they have performed on the stage.
The student-ran group also featured Aaron Anderson on
baritone saxophone, and Kyle Jackson and Jasmine Brown on alto
saxophone. The quartet performed upbeat and jazzy rendition of holiday
classics, including "Santa Baby," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town,"
"Winter Wonderland," "We Wish You a Very Merry Christmas," "Let it
Snow," and an arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard on High," created by
Aaron Anderson.
The group was delighted to be able to not only participate
in a Freeport community staple, but to also spread cheer with its
remarkable sounds.
