Third-graders at Bayview participated in Steer Clear of Bullies, a two-day workshop designed to teach students how to become anti-bullies.
Representatives of Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) visited the school to teach students the best methods to avoid bullying through a series of videos, role-playing, lectures and handouts. Students were taught the meaning of each letter in the acronym "CLEAR" if they are ever confronted by a bully - calm down, leave, enlist others, assert yourself, report incidents - and encouraged to practice these methods.
The program served to continue the character education at Bayview by teaching students to be compassionate and considerate anti-bullies.
