Teddy Teamwork: Freeport Students Build Bears
Posted on 01/05/2015

As part of an annual tradition, students from the high school and Columbus Avenue took a holiday excursion to Roosevelt Field Mall's Build-A-Bear workshop and constructed teddy bears together.

As part of their final assignment on early childhood development, students in the high school's elective psychology classes accompanied the Columbus kindergartners through the process of bear-building. Two high school students were assigned to each kindergartner, and each pair was tasked with taking notes and categorizing stages of development. There was no cost to the kindergartners for the bears, and all expenses were covered through fundraising efforts by high school students.

The experience served as an educational and fun way for students to foster teamwork during the holiday season.
