Planting the Seeds of STEM

As part of a partnership with Adelphi University, district students continued complementing their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) studies at Bayview/Giblyn Science Night.

The event, which was held at Bayview, enabled students and their parents to participate in interactive STEM lessons conducted by Adelphi students. In classrooms throughout the school, students were engaged in several hands-on workshops on a variety of topics, including the difference in composition of atoms in hot and cold water; how to make ice cream using ice, salt, and other ingredients, and how to make a roller coaster based on a total energy lesson under the guidance of the Adelphi students. Each workshop included an informative introduction using a Smart Board presentation.

Bayview/Giblyn Science Night not only served as an academically stimulating event for students and their parents to participate in together, but also reinforced the district's dedication to providing a sound STEM education.
