Archer Street Welcomes Young Author
Posted on 03/06/2013

Children's author Megan Fox visited the Archer Street School and spent the day talking with students about her book "Grammar with Gramma Grams." After reading her book and asking her questions, the students had an opportunity to write and illustrate in the author's style.

Megan is a high school junior attending Jericho High School. Because grammar was always difficult for her to master, she was inspired to write her own book to make these lessons fun for children to learn. The influence of Dr. Seuss, who was her favorite author as a child, is reflected in her rhyming and illustrations.

Archer Street teachers agreed that Megan's book would be useful in supporting classroom instruction. The students were amazed that such a young girl could have written and published her own book. Many were quick to realize that they too have the ability to create their own stories, and that maybe someday, children will be reading one of their stories. Before leaving, Megan autographed her books and donated one to each classroom's library.
