Students at the Columbus Avenue Early Childhood Education Center marked the 100th full day of school with a greatly anticipated assembly celebrating this school calendar milestone.
"For teachers, it is a classic 'teachable moment' as they use 100 to help students develop number sense," said Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Wafa Westervelt. "Watching our youngest learners count by tens, sing, dance and celebrate using this very significant number was heartwarming for me."
As part of the themed assembly, the children clapped in cadence while they sang songs, marched in a poster parade, did a stadium wave and demonstrated their facility with numbers by counting as a group to 100.
