As was previously announced, Atlantic Express Bus Company, which provides transportation services for many of our children through its subsidiary company Courtesy Bus Company, recently filed for bankruptcy. Following implementation of the court proceedings, Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation is in the process of acquiring the Freeport bus routes. We have been informed that current bus drivers and management staff will be joining Baumann & Sons and they will continue to service the children of the district.
Most importantly, we have been assured that there will be a smooth transition of services beginning on Monday, January 6, 2014 when our students return to school. All current bus routes will remain the same. Students should report to their usual bus stops at the regular time on Monday, January 6. We do not anticipate any disruption of bus transportation services to Freeport students as a result of the change in transportation companies.
