Students Celebrate a New School Year and a Special Anniversary
Posted on 09/05/2012

The district welcomed students back to school with first-day activities and celebrations.

One of the highlights was a 50th anniversary celebration kick-off at the Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School. Students gathered in the gymnasium, where Principal Amanda Muldowney led a celebratory assembly. "'Giblyn goes golden' represents our 50th anniversary. We're going to have a golden school year," she explained. Students were treated to a slideshow comparing student life in 1962, when the school first opened, to student life today. Later in the day, a parade was held throughout the building, in which students had the opportunity to wear celebratory gold crowns and stars and wave newly created celebration posters.
