Archer Street Students Remember 9/11
Posted on 09/13/2012

Students at Archer Street School participated in a 9/11 commemorative service on the front lawn of their building to honor the memory of those who lost their lives 11 years ago.

"Much has changed in the 11 years since our country was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, but what remains constant is our commitment to liberty and the love of the United States of America," said Principal Paula Lein in her brief and sensitive speech to the students, most of whom had not yet been born when the attacks occurred.

The ceremony included the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence and the lowering of the American flag to half-staff. The students sang Lee Greenwood's patriotic song "Proud to Be an American" at the conclusion.
