Posted on 05/31/2012

The annual Freeport High School awards breakfast assembled distinguished students, mostly graduating seniors, for a pre-graduation ceremony, rewarding their hard work and perseverance through the distribution of certificates and scholarship money. "You are here because you are unique. You should cherish what you have accomplished," encouraged Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham in his congratulatory speech.

Graduating senior Stephanie Morales was a frequent visitor to the podium and the most highly honored at this ceremony. She was the recipient of a $10,000 Coca-Cola Scholars Program award, the County Executive Community Service and Academic Excellence Award, and a full four-year Naval ROTC scholarship to Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Valedictorian Brea Baker was awarded $2,500 for qualifying as a semifinalist in the National Scholarship Achievement program. She was also a recipient of certificates for academic excellence from both the New York State Department of Education and the President's Education Awards program.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding juniors. Bianca Molina, Nicholas Brown, Jessica Ramos, Ashley Martin, Kyle McCullough and Elizabeth Mulé were among the juniors given awards. Ms. Mulé earned both the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award and the George Washington University Medal.

The attending administration, faculty and parents showered those being honored with applause before, during and after the awards were presented, as this was truly a celebration of accomplishment.
