Students Star In Dental Health Video
Posted on 02/23/2012

Second graders from Bayview Avenue Elementary School were active participants in the American Dental Association's 9th Annual "Give a Kid a Smile Day" sponsored by the Nassau County Dental Society. The students were featured players in a music video promoting good oral hygiene that premiered during their visit. "Our students' work on the dental health music video helped them learn a great deal about bettering their own dental habits!" said Bayview School Enrichment teacher Geraldine LaPenne. Local pediatric dentist Dr. Joe Brodsky encouraged Bayview School to create the video.

This annual one-day event held at the Cradle of Aviation Museum provided free dental screenings and oral hygiene instruction for more than fifteen hundred children ages 4-7. During the course of their visit, the Bayview students were entertained by movies, puppet shows, Mr. Met, Elmo and fun activities related to better oral hygiene. Each student was given a take-home goody bag of tools for better dental health.
