Celebrating Black History Month

Students at the Caroline G. Atkinson Intermediate School in Freeport displayed a wide range of talents when they staged their annual Multicultural Celebration Assembly as a culmination to Black History Month. "It was a phenomenal program," remarked Atkinson Principal Linda Carter. "The children and staff worked diligently to perfect their performances. We take pride in the talent of the Freeport School District."

The multidisciplinary program of more than ten separate acts included songs, dances, step and drill formations, slide show presentations, art displays, poetry recitals, and orchestral arrangements all thematically referencing the students' month-long focus on studies relating to Black History Month.
