Career Day Brings Job Experience into the Classroom

The sign-in register near the main office read more like a Who's Who of local professionals when Archer Street School gave students the chance to hear all about different career opportunities from the professionals themselves during the school's Career Day. "This is an ideal way for our students to grasp the variety of career paths open to them," said Principal Paula Lein. "They can listen to and learn from these voices of experience."

Workers from a range of occupations volunteered their time to visit classrooms, describe their jobs to students, and answer questions about their career choices. Job-specific equipment of all shapes and sizes helped the visitors descriptively share the interesting things they do. Many spoke anecdotally about their professional experiences and how their educational backgrounds were the foundations of their career choices and advancement.
