J.W. Dodd Middle School’s Spring Arts Festival

The J.W. Dodd Middle School presented their Spring Festival of the Arts to a packed auditorium filled with enthusiastic family members, friends and community supporters. 
The event opened with a visual arts presentation showcasing the talents of the middle school’s student-artists. The Chamber Orchestra took the stage to demonstrate their skills and performed the piece “The Code” by Alan Lee Silva. 

Under the direction of Dr. Sherill Spruill the Mixed Chorus performed three pieces, including “Turn the World Around” by Harry Belafonte and Robert Freedman earning a rousing applause from the audience. 

The Concert Orchestra student-musicians played “Legends of Glory,” by Kathryn Griesinger and “Perpetuoso” by Brian Holmes, which highlighted the impressive musical talent of the group. 

Taking the stage, the Select Chorale performed a selection of pieces ranging from traditional works to spirituals all of which mesmerized the audience. 

Closing the evening was the Concert Band with Derek Warshauer conducting the spiritual “Deep River, Shall We Gather at the River” by Douglas E. Wagner and the iconic melody “Mission: Impossible” theme song by Lalo Schifrin, which ended the concert with high energy and a reflected the commitment and hours the concert band members spent practicing throughout the school year.
