Several Freeport High School incoming freshmen had the privilege of participating in a unique academic program hosted by the Cradle of Aviation. These students, all selected based upon their academic achievements, including completing Earth Science in eighth grade and taking advanced math classes, were part of a joint program with the Westbury School District.

The summer program was designed to expose students to the higher-level thinking skills needed for success in high school. As part of the program, students attended a physics class taught by a Westbury teacher, and a math class taught by a Freeport teacher. They also participated in a technology class led by an educator from the Cradle of Aviation.

"I am grateful to have this opportunity for our students," stated Vincent Pereira, Freeport's Coordinator for Science. "This summer enrichment program exposed our incoming high school freshmen to different learning techniques that will better prepare them for the rigors of high school."
