The Circus Came To Town In Freeport
Posted on 07/12/2011

Students participating in the Freeport School District's annual summer program at New Visions School demonstrated their knowledge and creative talents to parents and invited guests by performing their own version of the circus. Much to the delight of those in attendance, the students, dressed in colorful costumes, marched, danced and performed a variety of interesting circus acts.

This unique and entertaining circus performance was the culmination of a four-week program in which students not only perfected their circus talents and presentation skills, but also improved their research and writing skills as they learned more about the origin of the circus.

Teachers Kerry Bracken and Jill Hayden, under the guidance of Summer School Principal Mimi Bino, used the framework of preparing for the circus performance to reinforce and enhance student preparedness for their new grade in September.
