Congratulations to the Freeport Varsity Cheerleaders for placing third at the Empire Regional Competition on Saturday, December 4, 2010. The team competed against nine teams from all over the East coast and received a "Bid" to the National Championships in Orlando, FL. in February. Coaches Laurie Kolodny and Cheryl Gayle are very proud of the team's performance. They said that the team has been working for months for this Bid, and really shined on the mat at Hofstra. The girls' FREEPORT cheer had the entire Physical Education Building shaking from the crowd response! It was an incredible day! The team will be holding a fundraiser and hopes to raise enough money to help pay for the cost of the trip. If you wish to help the team with their fundraising, please make checks out to Freeport Cheerleading and send them to coach Laurie Kolodny at Bayview.
The Cheerleaders will also be hosting their 11th LICCA Competition at Freeport HS on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Please come and show your support for our girls as they root on our football and basketball teams and our school and community!
