Town of Hempstead Honors Dr. Kishore Kuncham

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham was honored during the Town of Hempstead's 9th Annual India Republic Day Celebration during an evening reception held at Hempstead Town Hall.

As noted in the celebration program, Dr. Kuncham has three decades of senior-level experience in public education and the corporate world. He was instrumental in opening the first magnet schools on Long Island, and during his tenure, the graduation rate in Freeport reached its highest level in many years. Under his leadership, the Freeport Schools bond rating scored a very respectable AA. He has launched community-wide peace initiatives, instituted a science research program, and established a well-populated and attended major college fair for Freeport High School. Student participation in college preparation testing has more than doubled during his tenure. In addition to his doctorate, Dr. Kuncham holds a law degree, a master's degree in business administration, and a professional diploma in educational administration.
