Tennis Clinic for Students with Family in the Military
Posted on 03/22/2012

A team of professional tennis coaches took over the gymnasium in the Leo F. Giblyn School earlier this month. The winners were the students who were given a tennis lesson, a T-shirt, and a practice racquet to take home. The United States Tennis Association (USTA), in partnership with United Way, sponsored the tennis clinic for the benefit of students who have family members serving in the military and their classmates. "The students are very proud of their family members in the military, so it was special for them to be recognized in this way," said Giblyn School Principal Amanda Villalba.

Approximately 240 T-shirts and child-sized racquets were distributed. The program is modeled on the USTA QuickStart Tennis Program, which utilizes shorter nets and smaller courts to get the children playing and having fun in just minutes.
