Valentine Nuptials

The Q and U wedding went off without a hitch! Kindergarten guests, who were all queens and quarterbacks, entered to "Pachelbel's Canon in D" performed by members of the Giblyn orchestra, under the direction of Mrs. Beck. Amanda Muldowney, principal, officiated the wedding.

The nuptials were a bit unique. Three couples marched down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride." Mr. Q's had to promise to listen to all questions, not quarrel or quibble, eat her quiche, appreciate her quilts, and buy her quartz clocks she likes from Quebec. Of course, the Mr. Q's agreed and qualified as a quality husband. On the other hand, the Miss. U's had to promise to stand uniquely beside him, understand that he is quiet, and travel in unison with him. The Miss. U's agreed and will ultimately be unforgettable and unusual wives.

Once the Q's and U's were pronounced "husband and wife," the queens and quarterbacks were lead by Ms. Abramovitz, music teacher, to sing and dance to "The Valentine Mystery," a jazzy big-band style song, which unveiled a mystery valentine was written by both Q and U because they are now married and will forever stay together; Q and U will never be separated in words again.

"There is nothing like a themed wedding," says Muldowney. "The marriage of Q and U is a very exciting event for our kindergarteners. Not only is it a celebration, but it brings together phonics, English language arts, music and art lessons. Giblyn truly comes together to host this event."

Kindergartners had been planning and organizing this event for several weeks with their classroom teachers, Ms. Caravousanos, Mrs. Jonza, and Mrs. Williams. Also, in art, students learned about personification with Mrs. Mason and created valentine-style decorations for the entire celebration.
