The Special Persons Day assembly at New Visions School afforded students a golden opportunity to express their love and gratitude to those people in their lives who mean so very much to them in so many special ways. "On behalf of all the students, teachers and faculty, we appreciate every single thing that you do," said Principal Renee Crump-Dedmon to the full auditorium of invited guests. "I hope that you carry these good feelings with you throughout the day."
Students performed skits, sang songs and read essays that explained the scope of their special relationships. Special Persons Day was originally scheduled for earlier in the year but was postponed to Valentine's Day in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
This special assembly was coordinated through the efforts of guidance counselor Sherry Masciag and music teacher Ruth Breidenbach. The printed program featured six handwritten, student-submitted cookie recipes.
