Giblyn Goes Over the Rainbow for Spirit Week
Posted on 03/20/2013

Giblyn's Spirit Week and Food Drive kicked off with a colorful start as students strived to brighten their day and help others in need. Each day, students wore a different color of the rainbow and brought in a food item to donate to the Freeport Outreach Center. The school goal was to donate 500 food items.

Students watched the rainbow hanging outside the cafeteria gain a color a day. The color was the same color the children wore that day in school. On Monday they wore red or their Giblyn Gear, Tuesday was orange, Wednesday was yellow, Thursday was green and Friday was blue, indigo or purple. The children also watched the pot of gold at the rainbow's end gather coins. The coins kept track of the number of food items collected.

The Giblyn rainbow now has all its colors and the pot of gold at its end has overflowed. Thank you Giblyn children, and your families, for your generous donations. Giblyn exceeded its goal of 500 and donated 854 food items to the Freeport Outreach Center at Holy Redeemer.

At the end of Spirit Week, each class received a special certificate for participating and each student received a small token of appreciation. Spirit Week was a wonderful and uplifting experience for all the students at Giblyn. A rainbow is magical and beautiful, as are all the Giblyn children.
