-PARP 2012-

Giblyn kicked-off their 15th Annual PARP, Parents as Reading Partners, program Friday, Oct. 12 with a celebratory Opening Ceremony with the theme of "Gold is My Goal with PARP."

The Giblyn community participated in passing the torch to "Keep the reading flame burning," said Mrs. Muldowney, principal. Students viewed a PowerPoint presentation of "The Olympics Then & Now." While the excitement grew, the PARP program was explained to the students. Muldowney said, "I think students are beyond thrilled to be a part of this Olympic-themed PARP. It continues Giblyn's yearlong theme of 'Giblyn Goes Golden,' celebrating the school's 50th Anniversary."

Monday, Oct. 15 marks the start of the PARP program, which is aimed at involving parents, children and the school community in creating lifelong readers. PARP encourages parents and other caretakers to read with their children each day for at least 15 minutes per day, during the two week period. In addition, Giblyn hosted PARP Story Night on Monday, Oct. 15 at 7 pm and will host PARP BINGO Night on Monday, Oct. 22 at 7 pm.
