Superintendent's Welcome Back Message
Posted on 09/08/2013

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the start of the 2013-2014 school year. I hope you are returning refreshed and eager to begin another successful year. Last year was both productive and perhaps the most challenging we have faced in recent memory. Together, we overcame the devastation of Superstorm Sandy while our students continued to excel, earn impressive recognitions and assist our community in its recovery efforts.

As a community we came together on numerous occasions to celebrate our common goal of world peace starting within our own community, to enjoy outstanding concerts and theatrical productions that showcased our talented students, to cheer for our athletic teams and to celebrate student achievement.

The Class of 2013 has set a new standard of excellence for those who follow in their footsteps. They earned numerous scholarships to many of the most prestigious and highly competitive colleges and universities in the country. Throughout the year, they achieved recognition in academics, the arts and athletics, which is a true testament to the quality education provided to all Freeport students.

We have accomplished much and are grateful that our Freeport community demonstrated their continuing support by approving the 2013-2014 school budget by an impressive majority. We can all share in the pride of knowing we worked together to provide our students with the skills and tools they need to be successful.

Moving forward, we will be faced with unprecedented challenges. We will move forward, together, with optimism to continue to overcome the challenges we have successfully conquered thus far. Research has shown that a strong school-home-community partnership is the key to student success. I encourage all parents to maintain an open line of communication with your child's teachers and support staff, to communicate with administrators and staff and to become involved in the PTA.

I look forward to working with you and to seeing you at our many outstanding student events throughout the new school year.

Sincerely,
Dr. Kishore Kuncham
Superintendent of Schools
