FHS Winter Festival of the Arts Raises Holiday Spirits
Posted on 12/16/2012

This year's Freeport High School Winter Festival of the Arts brought front and center to the auditorium stage the depth of talent within the Freeport School District and the level to which that talent is being developed through proper instruction.

The program featured a cheerful medley of traditional holiday music and familiar classics performed by the concert chorus, sinfonietta and concert orchestra, ninth-grade select chorus, concert band, mixed chorus, wind ensemble and the select chorale, which ended the show with a stirring rendition of "Seasons of Love" from the musical "Rent." The holiday favorites sprinkling the show included the overture to Handel's "Messiah" and Mendelssohn's "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing."

During a break in the program, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham thanked the community, school staff and JROTC volunteers for their work in facilitating the school system's recovery from Superstorm Sandy.
