Students in Ms. LaCorte's kindergarten class enjoyed a special reading of A Cat in the Hat by second-grade teacher Ms. Ahearn, who dressed especially for this occasion. The students also participated in a rhyming activity that mirrored the story's rhyming scheme and made hats to wear during the birthday celebration.
Reading teacher Ms. Masin read And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street to Ms. Polikoff's and Ms. Zeilke-Garcia's third-grade dual-language classes. The classes also created an Archer Street version of the story as part of the celebration.
