The Freeport High School music department staged the musical "In The Heights" with three weekend performances that spotlighted the many acting, singing, dancing and musical talents being developed in the district arts program.

The show, featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, is set over the course of three days, involving an ensemble cast of characters in the largely Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights in Manhattan. The cast features Sebastian Gonzalez Ruiz as Usnavi, Stefanie Workman as "Abuela" Claudia, and Victoria Baez as Nina.

"In The Heights" was produced at Freeport High School by Robert Yarmola and directed by Bruce Grossman. The cast and crew worked under the guidance of musical director Monique Retzlaff, choreographer Mahendra Morales, set designer Arthur Retzlaff, and costume designer Cathy Rode-Flores.

The full pit orchestra was prepared by Michael LaSorsa and conducted by John Riss. Stage manager Lee Stetson and prop master Brooke Baker are both students at the school.
